LG’s R&D Head Accuses Apple iPhone of Copycatting LG Prada

February 12, 2007 by dennis

Even though only last week head of LG Electronics’ mobile sales in the UK stated that the rumors that Apple copied their LG Prada design are not true and that he’s flattered by the comparison…

This week LG Mobile Handset R&D Center head, Mr. Woo-Young Kwak, told the press absolutely the opposite: “We consider that Apple copied the Prada phone after the design was unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006.

Mr. Kang-Heui Cha, Senior Manager of LG Design Research Lab added: “LG Prada phone put focus on interfaces and Apple emphasized music phone concept. In the process of adding substances to the conceptual ideas, the two handset makers might end up with similar designs.

Between these two contradicting statements we don’t know which one to believe… Did Apple copy LG’s design? The answer to this question remains a mystery for now.
