Wireless Ground iPhone USB Sync and Charge Cradle Review

One of my essential iPhone accessories is a docking cradle. I use mine all the time at work because it makes it easier to read (given the angle of the dock) and it makes a great “trophy” stand. Maybe when the new app store opens, a developer will actually make a screen saver with the time and a calendar on it! Meanwhile, we get the pleasure of selecting our dock of choice. With the market for iPhone accessories maturing, this choice is even broader. Wireless Ground offers a USB sync and charge cradle that is worth considering.
This cradle is more eye-catching and offers more utility than the basic cradle offered by Apple. I like that it’s black so it matches my iPhone. I also like the blue power indicator light.
The whole unit comes in three pieces – the cradle, a USB cord and a power adapter. This arrangement makes it easy to plug the cradle into an outlet if all you need to do is charge your iPhone or, you can plug the USB cable into a computer to charge it and/or sync it. This versatility makes life easier on us frequent travelers!
What the cradle doesn’t have is a port for external speakers. Granted, most office environments aren’t suited for playing music out loud, but I do like the option when I sometimes work at home. I find it easier to plug external speakers into the dock versus having to dangle cords (and an iPhone headset adapter) from the top of the phone. It also makes it difficult to quickly answer the phone.
Nonetheless, for a basic cradling solution, Wireless Ground’s iPhone USB Sync & Charge Cradle is a good deal – especially now where I see it’s on sale for only $23 (that’s less than half the cost of Apple’s Universal Dock)!
