RadTech ProCable iPhone Headphones Review

September 19, 2008 by Brian

Let me get this off my chest first… I love the iPhone, it’s damn sexy, and does everything I would need with a phone, communication, music, movies, and more. Its design, it’s well better than any phone I have tested so far. Except one flaw, and this drives me crazy!!!! The earphone plug…

Yes, that is right, you can’t use most or all of your awesome headphone you own already because of the design. You must then either buy an Apple made headset, or -eeeek- add one of those dongles that just takes away from the iPhone with the latter’s sleek design, and then this dongle is just flapping in the wind. So let’s see how this RadTech headset panned out.

Design
This really is a basic headphone design, almost like the Apple headset that comes with the iPhone. It’s black, and has a clip so that you could attach the line to your shirt. Also there is a button, which you can use to answer your iPhone’s phone call, stop the music, and fast forward your music.

Also, for some odd reason, the design of wires for the headphones has this outstretched part for the right ear and a normal size length for the left ear. This is very annoying, and I don’t know who has an ear that is 2 feet away and outstretched away from their left ear. Maybe the design wasn’t meant for humans. Also, no matter which way I put the headphone on behind the neck or in front it was a disaster.

Sound Quality/ Ease of use
I’ve never really disliked a product, but this one got under my skin. Just because an earphone goes deep in your ear doesn’t make it sound good. Wearing these headphone was about as fun as getting a Q-tip stuck in your ear. Do they stay in your ears, these headphone, uhm no, at least not while I was walking or working out, typing on my computer, using the elliptical machine. I lost the count of falling out earbuds after twenty times. How was the sound of it, well if you are into music with lots of treble and no bass then these are for you, if you can stand pushing these earbuds deep into crevasses of your ears. Which actually I may need an ear doctor after using these for the hours I used to test these out. I don’t know what RadTech was thinking with this headset. I actually own a RadTech mouse and cleaning cloth’s for my Macbook Pro, both which are awesome products.

Conclusion
Since I’ve started writing reviews I’ve never not recommended a product, and I hate to do it, and I hope it’s the only time. I would say you are better off with the Apple headphones, or I would probably save my money and invest in a better pair of headphones that will work with the iPhone, I’m sure there are plenty online. When it comes to your ears and listening to music, it should be a great experience, and shouldn’t be painful, annoying, and just all around lousy.

Ok, I’ve had this earphones, they don’t sound good, but they are about on par with the ones included, they are much more comfortable the stretched cable is so you put the left ear and the the other cable goes behind your neck you dumb piece.

still bad headset, but for 8 US$ its a nice solution to the crappy headset included.

that said I just bought a V-Moda vibe duo, which sound incredible. they cost about 5X as much though
