Peek is a new social networking application that you can find in the AppStore. Not having much of an idea what was in store, I dove in to the world of Peek.

peek

Peek is a very intriguing application. The basic premise is interaction between you and other Peek users worldwide. The main screen, as seen in the picture, contains a bunch of multi-colored dots. These represent different users in different parts of the world. The relative spacing of the dots indicates where that other user is in relation to you. For example, a dot on the far right side of the screen is likely someone in Europe.

There are a bunch of different things you can do in this app. First of all, you can fill in information and a picture of yourself for other users to see. This includes, name, age, status, and a picture if you so choose. Once you have your information entered, you’re ready to blast off into the world of Peek. Once there, you can click on other dots to see who they are, where they’re from, what they’re doing. The cool part is you can actually talk to them too if you want. There is also a filter to deter any spammers.

It would be nice to see some more users in Canada. As of now, there are not that many North American users. Not a huge problem though as shaking the phone activates ‘Hyperpeek’ and blasts you off to a random location of the globe.

One of the developers, Tommy Westerberg seems to always be on and available for chatting, although he may not reply instantaneously. He tells me there is much more in store for Peek in the coming days, so check it out.
