This is the second Logic3 product I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing. It comes in the form of a speaker dock. Admittedly, this is the first speaker dock I’ve have the opportunity to use with my iPhone 3G. Logic3 certifies this as a ‘Works with iPhone’ product, which is always nice to see in a speaker dock.

Most iPod/iPhone speaker docks in this price range are similar in style and this one follows suit, but does have a unique trick up its sleeve. The name of the product gives a pretty clear indication of what that little extra is. If you haven’t figured it out by now, it rotates! Perfect for watching movies in landscape mode. The dock portion of the Rotate slides side to side and locks in the center and on the far right. When in the latter position, you can rotate the phone 90 degrees to landscape. The whole process is simple and it rotates smoothly. There is even a video out RCA cable if you’ve got a TV kicking around.
A cable is provided to power the unit. As with the Pro-Dock, I was provided European attachments, bu the US model should have proper plugs. Again, the adapter I had around worked like a charm and allowed my iPhone to be charged while docked. The Rotate can also be powered by 4 AA batteries if you’re on the go. A switch on the rear of the unit changes between battery and outlet power.
Now for the audio quality. For speaker docks in this price range, you can’t really be expected to be blown away by the sound. The Rotate does provide some decent sound though. It does lack significantly in the bass department. Especially when turned up to higher volumes. The highs and mids are pretty good. I found the guitar solos were loud and clear! At higher volumes, the sound does get a little fuzzy but from farther away it’s not very noticeable. Overall, the sound is decent, and it can be cranked pretty loud if need be. No problem filling up a room. Logic3 says that there is noise suppression technology incorporated for when you get a phone call. I made a couple calls and there is some interference, but not nearly as bad as some of the interference I get from other, everyday devices.

Logic3 includes a couple of nice accessories with the Rotate. First off, there are a whole bunch of different attachments which allow you to dock most any version of iPod or iPhone. A remote control is included, basically the same one as the one that came with the Pro-Dock, with an extra button for video out. The ability to control menus and volume is a nice touch. Additionally, a travelling case comes in the box. This makes it so easy to throw the dock in it and take it with you wherever.
Overall, Logic3 has created a really nice product with a few non-standard features from run-of-the-mill docks. These include the rotate feature as well as the video out. The price is competitive with other docks of similar style/quality. The audio is good but not great. If you’re a fan of watching movies on your iPod Touch or iPhone, this dock helps you do that in style. Because of the unique rotate capability, this dock gets bumped from a solid bronze to a silver.

8.7/10
