The Price is Right: iPhone Game Review

“Come on down! You’re on the Price is Right.” Can you guess what day-time TV show that’s from? If you can’t then you need to have a serious day-time tv update or a talk with some professional help. Now for those of you that did get it firstly congrats, but really? Secondly did you get a little excited or a chill down your spine. Because that’s right you guessed it! The Price is Right has come to the App store.

All of your favorite games that you have come to love are on your iPhone or iPod touch. The game is basically a mini version of the TV show. You start off on contestant row, bidding on an item. Here is where the games differ. In the App store version you have 3 strikes. So if you don’t guess the right price during the first round don’t worry. After contestants row you move to the next stage where you play one of the many famous games. Plinko, the mountaineer and the higher or lower game are some if the games to name a few. Once that stage is done then you move on to the giant wheel spin where the closest person to a dollar without going over gets to move on to the final stage. Fans of the show know that the best part of the show is at the end with the Showcase Showdown. The Showcase Showdown for those of you that may not watch the show is where the person that won the most during the show and the person that got closest to a dollar on the big wheel are in the Showcase Showdown. A showcase is a group of prizes that usually have a theme, and more often than not there is a vehicle as one of the prizes. Once you have finished hearing about all your prizes you either have the option to pass or bid. The person that is closest to the actual retail price without going over wins their Showcase. If you also end up bidding within $250 of your Showcase then you win both! How sweet is that? Too bad none of the prizes were real.

Over all, being a fan of the show I was impressed with the quality of the graphics and game play. The game definitely made me feel like I was on the show. The only thing that I was hoping for was a little Bob Barker but I guess that wasn’t allowed. I gave the game an 8.5/10.
