With such a vast array of leather cases out there for the iPhone 3G, it is easy to find a lot of look alike cases out there. The Noreve Tradition is unique enough that it peaks my interest more than the average case.
Noreve sent me the Chestnut colored case and its definitely nice looking. It is a flip case made from quality, handcrafted leather. The outsides are softer with a tiny bit of padding, while the inside is very rigid. The hard layer curves around the sides and up at the bottom a bit, allowing you to slide your iPhone in easily and prevents it from moving side to side. The snap at the top allows you to open and close the case.

Volume buttons, headphone jack, and camera are all accessible when the case is closed. The flap has a slot in it allowing for a credit card or something of similar size. Protection wise, it’s alright but not great. The corners are exposed and could get damaged in a fall. I’d also like the strap at the top to pull the flap a little tighter. As it is, flap has a bit of play near the top where the snap is.
I only have one complaint about this case. As easy as it is to get the phone into it, it also can come out just as easy. It is easily popped out if pulled. It didn’t ever come out without me trying but if you aren’t careful, the phone could pop out on you.
Noreve also sent me their metal belt clip. This clip means business! It’s about three times as heavy as your normal plastic belt clip and comes complete with a mini screwdriver for installation. There’s no way this thing is going to break easily. It allows for 360 degree rotation of your iPhone. You have to turn the phone sideways to get it to slide in and once you rotate it down 90 degrees to its normal position, it’s locked it. It swivels really easy and you just need to be sure it doesn’t come out on you. One time getting in my car, it came off as I was sitting down.
The price on this case is about right for the nice leather and cool design. Definitely a fancier case to have and very professional-looking. For sure one of the cooler leather cases I’ve had the chance to test out.
