With the many things you can do on your iPhone, backup batteries are almost an essential part of life for heavy users. I know I can hardly get through a day on one charge. There are a whole bunch of different options to choose from in this department. One of the major players in the battery field is Mophie and they have created the first Apple certified ‘Works With iPhone 3G’ battery ever.

This battery is 100% compatible with the iPhone 3G and looks good to boot. The sides of the case have non-slip grips on them which are nice to hold on to. This battery, like many others like it, also doubles as a case while charging is taking place. The iPhone fits into it nice and snug, no worries about it coming loose. The side buttons and top of the phone are all accessible. The case has a cutout for the camera so if you’re desperate to snap a picture while charging, it’s all good. The top of the phone is exposed however, so do your best to avoid dropping it!

The battery is nice and slim and doesn’t bulk up the iPhone too much. Keeping it in your pocket is very doable. There are also four blue LED’s on the back to let you know how much charge you have left. It has 1800mAh of charging capability, which is average I would say. You will get at least a full charge out of it with a bit extra to spare. It comes with a USB to mini-USB cable for charging.

The Juice Pack 3G is a great looking product and does its job just like it should, but there is one major thing that it is lacking that I’ve seen on other similar products. That would be a USB port on the bottom to charge additional devices. For a product that is a decent amount more than some of the similar batteries at $100, I think a USB port should have been included. The MiLi battery pack for example has the USB port as well as 2000mAh capacity for only $80.

That being said, the Mophie Juice Pack 3G is still a slick little product. I like the green on the inside of the case. Bright colors are always an appealing thing. If you have no need for a USB out port to charge other devices, the Juice Pack 3G is a feasible solution to your battery woes.
