iPhone 3GS: First Impressions
By: Jacob Hamlin
Walking into the Apple Store today, I got a flashback to when I did it 2 years ago. I had stuck it out, surpassing the iPhone 3G, and my patience paid off. Signing up before showing up at 7 A.M made the purchase a snap.
As soon as I got the iPhone 3GS activated (in store) I zoomed to my car to get home. As soon I got in my car, I went to Maps and was amazed at how it showed which way I was facing.
I began taking pictures of random things at the stop lights on the way home. The Auto-Focus and Tap-Focus is amazing and extremely accurate.

Up next, taking a video. Watching the young teenager next to me at a light rocking out to some music, I held up my camera as secretly as possible (acting as if I were on the phone) and got this boy dancing and singing. I went back to the video and played it back. My jaw dropped. After spending $1000 on a Sony HandyCam, I soon realized that the iPhone was identical in quality and beating the HandyCam in editing.
Next feature I loved, Voice Control. Yes, Apple could have came out with it sooner, but hey, at least it’s here. Not only was it accurate with my voice, I even tried a few voices like Seinfeld’s “HELLOOOO” voice.
This iPhone is superb and definitely beats the 3G. What are you waiting for? GO GET IT!
