Gorilla Tubes are a new type of case with a unique ‘gorilla flipstrap’ to remove your iPhone from the case. Gorilla Cases sent over the carbon edition of the Gorilla Tube for me to review.

The Carbon Edition case is made of 1.15mm thick carbon fibre (the stuff they make supercars out of, to make them light). The inner of the case has a soft inner lining to stop you iPhone from getting scratched whilst in the case. The case itself is very light, but feels incredibly strong and durable. You can insert your iPhone into either end of the case, as the Gorilla Flipstrap works from both sides of the case. Whilst in the case though, you can only access the hold button, as the dock connector is covered by the flipstrap.

I used this case for a week, and I really enjoyed using it. I got a lot of comments about how nice it looks and I tend to agree. The flipstrap works by pulling either of the tabs and your iPhone will slide out enough for you to pull it out completely. I did find that sometimes I would pull the tab and my iPhone would come out of the bottom, depending on how I was holding it and how I had put it in my pocket. The case secures the phone well, so it didn’t fall out at any point but I would prefer this case if it only had one entry at the top rather than two.

I actually dropped my iPhone whilst it was in this case and the protection it got from the case was very good. There was no damage at all, so protection is great. I really like Gorilla Tubes, and if you’re looking for a really nice case that offers great protection, you should consider this.
