If you use any free email service on your iPhone (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) then chances are you haven’t got push email (or at least with Yahoo, very patchy service). Push Mail solves this problem.
When you first open PushMail you are prompted to create an account. It’s as simple as choosing a username and password. Once registered, your new push address will be in this format ‘username@dopushmail.com’. There are no instructions for setting Push Mail up, but there are instructions on the website. Basically, you need to forward any email you want pushed to your new dopushmail.com email address. These forwarded emails are not stored on the PushMail server, but simply pushed to your phone, then deleted.

When you receive an email, you will receive a notification with the name of the sender, the subject, and a small portion of the message. The sound can be hard to hear sometimes, so I would like have an option to change it. I would also like to be able to customize this to only see the sender and subject, as sometimes the notification can be overwhelming with all the information. Another small problem I have with this app, is that you can’t jump straight to the mail app from the notification. This is not an ideal way to get push email, but if you’re email service just doesn’t provide it, then this is best workaround I have found.
This app could be improved with some customisation options, but Push Mail is still a great way to get push email.
