Cretouch - iPhone Ultra Slim Case
Price: $12.99 (High Gloss); $19.99 (Leather)

There are a lot of companies making iPhone cases lately. There are the big ones like iSkin or CaseMate to name a couple. But there are lesser known companies making cases every bit as good as the bigger sellers. They may not be as easy to find in a store, but the internet is the great equalizer.
Case in point: Cretouch. Not a household name in iPhones cases. But don’t let that keep you from checking them out. I’ve been using the UltraThin High Gloss and the UltraThin Leather Grip.
These two cases are pretty much identical in shape and look, except the High Gloss is well, shiny and the Leather Grip model is not. The High Gloss is sheer elegance. The Leather Grip is more understated.
The whole time I used the High Gloss, it felt like it was not attached well enough and the iPhone was going to slip right out of the case and fall to the ground. It NEVER happened. In fact, only when I tried to remove the case, did it become apparent how well attached it really was. I became impressed with this. However the Leather Grip ‘felt’ safer to me if only because of the knobby texture. Call me paranoid.

These cases follow a trend in minimalist design that protect the back of the iPhone from scratches, and that’s pretty much it. But because of that, they have an panache that other, more protective cases just don’t have. And that’s the trade-off.
None of the ports are protected. There is a front protection film available on the High Gloss (at an extra cost). I didn’t test that one.
The interior of both cases is glossy plastic. There is no lining or other luxuries, and at this price-point, you shouldn’t expect any. But they do look more expensive on the outside. So that’s cool.

Only after I had used the cases, did I appreciate how they never distracted from the beauty of the iPhone. They just looked like what they are, a little protection that doesn’t get in the way. Unless you want a bulky, silicone dirt-magnet with shock-protection from a 4-foot drop, what more can you ask for in a case?
