With all the speakers and docks that I’ve reviewed, it has been a while since I’ve seen something truly unique. When I first took a gander at the EOS wireless bundle, I knew it was something special. Wireless speakers that you can place anywhere in your house. It looked too good to be true. Well, it isn’t.

Having never really heard of EOS before getting this product, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Here’s how these speakers work. The main unit consists of a central docking station and one speaker. This is the core bundle that costs $199. The unit will work with up to three additional speakers, which adds up to 4 speakers plus the ones in the dock. These 4 additional speakers all sync up and play music together with the dock with the touch of a button. Music will start playing in from the dock unit when an iPod/iPhone is inserted and when you press a button, the other speakers will all connect.

This is a really neat system. It has a range of up to 150 feet which means it will pretty much work anywhere in your house. The dock has volume buttons and a remote to control it while each of the individual speakers have their own volume knob and their volume can be adjusted individually. Right now, I have the dock in the kitchen, 3 speakers around the living room and one in the hallway. It’s pretty cool to be able to dock my iPhone while I’m cooking, etc, and have music playing from all around the apartment, even in the hallway! If you have multiple floors this would work even better!

All the individual speakers need is a power outlet. They even come with a cool plug design so that you can plug the speaker in and it will sit on the outlet on the wall. If this doesn’t work well in a certain area, you can also pop the plug out to expose a cord which will give you a little bit more room to plug it in. I personally really like the ‘mount on the plug’ design, it’s very clean as you can’t see any wires.

EOS warns that this system is not supposed to replace a home theatre system, and I can agree with that. The sound quality is not the best I’ve ever heard, but it’s not the worst either. It is decent for casual listening. It is definitely lacking in the lower frequencies. The addition of a wireless or wired sub would have been a nice touch.

I’ve had many different comments on this system, all good ones. One thing that is a little bit tricky is that the remote only controls the volume for the dock speakers. You have to adjust each one individually otherwise, but once you figure out a good level, you don’t need to touch them again. Overall, I’m very impressed with this unit. The cool part is you can buy as many speakers as you want. Even though it doesn’t have the best sound quality, it is one of my favorites and would definitely recommend getting it.
