If you’ve spent a fair amount of time online in the last year, you’ve probably heard of T-Pain. He is best known for singing on The Lonely Island single ‘I’m On A Boat’. You may also know that he uses an autotuner on his voice to make it sound different. Specifically, Antaris Auto-Tune. Well now, the people behind the autotuner have released an iPhone app to allow anyone to sound like T-Pain.

I Am T-Pain allows you to sing along to a selection of beats and songs (some of which are in-app purchases). When you first open the app you can start recording acapella immediately, or you can select a beat/song to sing along to. When you select a song, it will download the lyrics so you can sing along, although this can take some time depeding on your network connection. You can choose to tune to a specific note, or you can flick a switch to get to the T-Pain setting.

All you’re recordings can be saved to the directory within the app, for playback later. You can also share your recordings with friends via MySpace, Facebook, directly to the I Am T-Pain website, or email.

As someone who has used the full Antaris Auto-Tune software (which costs upwards of $500), this app obvisouly doesn’t give you all the features you get in the full software. What it does do is offer something increibly fun to mess around with at parties, college, or at home by yourself (I suggest keeping that to yourself though!). And at $2.99 that’s considerably cheaper than the full-blown software.
