Tekkeon is an accessories company that give you a variety of different power options for different mobile devices. This includes the iPhone. I’ll be taking a look at their myPower for iPhone case/backup battery. It comes in both synthetic and genuine leather versions. The genuine leather version is available exclusively at the Apple store.

I’ve seen a few different backup battery cases over the last while. Some are really good, while others aren’t that user friendly. If all you are looking for is something to charge your iPhone, than any case with a battery in it will do. If you are a more discriminating user, than there are other things to consider, such as looks, feel, protection, usability, etc.
The myPower isn’t a bad looking case. I was sent the genuine leather one which feels very nice to the touch. The edges have white stitching all the way around which give it a unique look. To get the iPhone in the case, there is a flap on top that is held in place with a button. Unsnap it and the iPhone slides right in and onto the dock connector at the bottom of the case. The phone fits pretty well inside the case and is snug. The dock connector really secures it in place. You can access all the buttons and switches as the top corners are exposed. There is a cutout at the bottom as well, letting you hit the home button.

The myPower provides 1200 mAh, which basically gives you one full charge. This is about right around the average for battery pack cases. It has a micro USB cable that can be used to charge as well as connect to the computer and sync.

This wasn’t my favorite backup battery case. It’s a little bit bulky, and for its capacity, I’ve seen slimmer ones. It’s also sort of hard to use the screen, which is slightly below the leather all around it. It would have been nice to see a belt clip as it is a little bit thick to be in your pocket.

As a battery, this case is great. In terms of a case, it’s not the best. If you like leather though, you may enjoy it more than I did. It is the first leather backup battery case that I have reviewed. The other one’s have been pretty much all hard plastic. If you’re looking for a leather backup battery case, this looks like it might be one of the better ones. I just really like the plastic ones.

7/10
