I love my Waterfield iPhone/iPod Travel Case. Period.

Thats it. Review over.

OK, I guess I need to explain what I like about it and why I like it. OK, remember when you bought your first iPod? Life was simple. You got your earbuds and your iPod and that just about covered it.

But wait. In no time, there’s more.

What about that charger, and the USB cord that goes with it? And then when you finally realized how sucky the earbuds were, you went out and bought some wonderful, new earphones with their included cute little case. But then you noticed how heavy your beloved iPod was when exercising, so you bought an iPod Nano for jogging, or gardening because it’s so light. Oh, and then came the iPhone! Great, another gadget! And no, your gargantuan music collection will not fit on the iPhone, what, with all those apps, thank you very much. So now you’re stuck with three Apple gadgets and all the accessories. But man, the battery on the iPhone could be a lot better and so, for insurance, you get a little portable battery backup. And what about that thumb drive you’ve been carrying around in your pocket?

Do you see where I’m going with this? Eventually, you need a place to keep all your stuff organized. And thats where the Waterfield iPhone/iPod Travel Case comes in.

Waterfield is a company that makes a lot of bags, from laptop bags and sleeves to urban cargo bags to gadget cases. Strangely enough, they don’t make the traditional backpack.

What I have is the large-sized iPhone Travel Case which holds a heck of a lot more than just an iPhone. I use this thing to hold most of my iPhone/iPod related stuff, which is mentioned above. (Yes, that’s my story of stuff, also shown in the photo) As you can see, over time, the accessories you accumulate will need a home and Waterfield provides good protection as well as usable space Note: I highly recommend the large size. If you buy one of the smaller sizes you most likely be replacing it soon. Trust me, go large.

The Travel Case is divided into snug, but stretchable pockets on both interior sides; three on one side and two larger pockets on the other, with a bit of space left over in the middle. There is also a zippered exterior pocket for even more stuff. The interior is made of a soft, scratch-free material, so you can relax about messing up that so easily scratched plastic-backed Apple iPhone. I have cases for my iPhone and iPod and they still fit quite nicely into the interior pockets. And if you have a little too much stuff, the Case is flexible enough to expand a bit.

The stitching is top notch. I didn’t find any loose threads and none have unravelled since I’ve had the Case. And I’ve pretty much thrown this thing around. The exterior has a bumpy, rubberized edging that makes it easier to grip, but I have managed to drop it many times (my fault). I just don’t sweat it. Nothing has ever been damaged while inside the Travel Case. That alone justifies the price. when zipped up, the Case is water resistant, though not water-proof. There is a difference, so don’t go swimming with it.

(And something not really advertised: For an additional fee, you can order a bag from the Waterfield site in a color that is not normally offered if you wish.)

The Waterfield Travel Case is something you can just load up and throw into your shoulder bag or backpack. You don’t have to worry about anything.
