When it comes to protecting your mobile device, Case-Mate is no newcomer. They’re established and offer a wide range of accessories to protect and charge your iPhone. They were kind enough to send their go-Bare protective shield my way. This is a pretty cool way to protect your iPhone.

One of the most frustrating parts of getting a case for your iPhone is that it typically covers up the iPhone’s beautiful sleek design. If I could carry my iPhone around without a case and not have it get destroyed I would, but sadly it’s much too prone to scratches and cracks. Case-Mate offers a rather neat solution with their go Bare film.
The go bare comes with two self-adhering pieces of military grade film. One for the front of the iPhone and one for the back. The front piece is the same shape as your typical screen protector. The back piece is a nice addition and covers the entire back and corners and even has a cutout for the camera hole. The material used for this is also different than any I’ve used. It has sort of a rubber texture which provides good grip and feels ultra-strong and durable.
Application of these types of films can be tricky. This was one of the better ones I’ve applied but it still wasn’t a walk in the park. Care needs to be taken to ensure your iPhone is super clean before application and then comes the toughest part, lining it up right. I got the back piece on pretty straight but the front one got skewed slightly but it is definitely still usable. The back wound up bubble free and the front has two tiny bubbles which I’m hoping will go away in the coming days. It says to leave the film to settle for 24 hours and then after 72 it will be fully cured. That is a tough task as I have to use my phone throughout the day.
Overall, I really like the idea of a go Bare type product, but it definitely won’t protect against impact which is the biggest downside. If you are really good about not dropping your iPhone and just want some good scratch protection, take a look at this reasonably priced accessory. Personally, I need a bit more security than just scratch protection.
