The Asus Aura: “Our Response to iPhone”
February 6, 2007 by dennis
Egy Studio designed the concept of a new mobile device for Asus, dubbed the Asus Aura. Its motto can easily be “our response to iPhone”. This cell phone’s screen practically fully consists of a touchpad. An interesting design solution is a movable module with “traditional” mobile buttons located on the screen (see photos below). The device can of course work in both horizontal and vertical modes.
Furthermore, except for the huge 3,9 inch touchpad display, the Asus Aura features a retractable QWERTY keyboard, and is surprisingly – only 6mm – thin. A 2 megapixel camera, SD memory slot, and a mini USB exit are also present on board. It will support GSM, 3G and HDSPA networks, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 interfaces. The complete size specifications are 97×49x6mm.
It must be noted that this project is still in the concept stage, hence no information is available on the operating system, costs, nor the projected release date.
