CrunchGear reports that on Monday Microsoft filed an application with the FCC for a wireless device, to be used for “consumer broadband access and networking”. The device will operate on OFDM (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing), a 4G technology.
According to their source, the device was in works for quite a while and we should expect an official announcement from Microsoft before March 17. The device is supposed to directly compete with the Apple iPhone, having almost identical features, such as WiFi and access to Zune Marketplace.
