Apple posted an ad about a job opening on Gamasutra, a gaming portal often used by companies to hire new talent. The ad states:

Job description Responsible for working in a team environment to development consumer entertainment software. Under broad goals and objectives, exercises judgment within general defined practices and policies in selecting methods for obtaining solutions to complex problems.
Responsible for rapidly developing memory and performance optimized software solutions to complex problems.
Provides specialist direction, guidance and resources to other engineers/scientists and project engineers/scientists as well as technicians; may act as lead engineer on a variety of projects and participates in the project planning of major projects. May often act as group/project leader.
Keeps abreast of all relevant technical trends and developments and incorporates them in appropriate assignments.
Responsible for team engineering quality. This includes architecture, design, implementation, maintenance, and overall performance as well as complying with company and team processes, practices, and strategic direction.
Negotiates interface decisions relevant to integrating own work with related work, and ensures timely communication with subordinates, peers and managers.
Provides feedback to managers of engineers/scientists and project engineers/scientists they interface with on development issues, as well as technical and team skills.
Independently completes assignments within established time frames and cost objectives; alerts management with regard to any related difficulties.
Responsible for all aspects of schedule. This includes creation, communication, dependencies, and realization.
Sets clear and realistic goals and expectations and achieves those goals and expectations.
Responsible for tracking off-team technology progress to reaffirm mutual goals.
Primary interfaces are senior project engineers/scientists, project engineers/scientists, engineers/scientists, immediate manager and management.
8+ years of Games programming.
8+ years of C/C++ programming.
Minimum B.S. degree in computer science or equivalent.
Minimum 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent including the delivery of state-of-the-art performance minded products.
Technical expertise in field of specialty.
Experience working with embedded systems
Great memory and performance optimization skill.
Ability to work independently and be self-directing.
Excellent communication skills.
Good creative skills.
