Apple iPhone delayed until July 2007
April 1, 2007 by dennis
iPhone will not make it for June 2007. Apparently, the first shipment of touchscreen displays was deemed to be of inferior quality, thus delaying the manufacturing process for several weeks.
Sources close to Apple indicated to a Singaporean newspaper that the company is disappointed with its Malaysian parts supplier that produced the defective touchscreens, and is considering opening additional manufacturing capacities in Singapore.

While the delay is not expected to be a major one, Apple has repeatedly stated that its primary focus is the product’s quality, and that they’ll take “as long as needed” in order to make sure that iPhone buyers will not experience any post launch technical problems, which have occurred in the past with some of Apple’s iPod line of products.
Coincidentally, Apple’s representatives declined to comment on a previous report that gave a June 11 2007 release date. The report quoted a Cingular customer service employee.
April’s Fool Warning: do not believe every story you see on April’s Fool day. It was a nice story, but it was completely made up too. Kudos to the readers that managed to find discrepancies (that we’ve left on purpose) in the story (for example Malaysian screen manufacturers, or a non existent report in Singaporean paper).
