How do i get Iphone Installer.app v3.0? Does it work on macs?

any idea if this will work on the ipod touch or if one will be made to work on the ipod touch?

The Installer.app should NOT be used for a few reasons.
First of all, it's a closed source app in an inherently unsecure environment (everything on the iPhone runs as root). For all you know, it could be sending off your personal data.
Second, its developer has done all kinds of things to HINDER the progress of open source developments for the iPhone.
If you support open source and want a SAFE and SIMPLE way to install applications to your iPhone, check pxl.googlecode.com

i have the installer in my i phone v1.0.2 but it doesn't work when i tap on it it stuck and i must restart my phone again ,,,ibrickr also doesn't load anything he tells me soft reset your mobile and nothing happen

I have unlocked iPhone 1.0.2 working fine. while my wifi was on installer v3.0b was downloaded automatically, also witht his i saw many other items llike games and books n stuff. after downloading few games and books i could not see all the icons as it was more tha 16 icons. and niether i see rest if the icons downloaded. installer also went missing. so i could not uninstall these unwanted games or utilities. after trying hard i decided to installe installer 3.0b thinking it will salve the problem. but even after this and reseting my phone i still cant see rest of the icons but installer is seen. how can i go back to my old status? can i downgrade to old version of installer and remove extar games and unseen icons? why i cant scroll
the extra cins like my friend who have 1.1.1 version phone. please i need your help on this issue. waiting for your reply with some simple solution as i am not a programmer or a geek who understands jailbreak or other terms.

just re-install your installer:

1. download Apptapp for windows http://www.iphonealley.com/news/appt...ndows-re...
But if you have a mac OS they have one as well.
2.Save this file to your computers harddrive, Extract the file. do not open or run it yet.
3. Now Close the itune program which was running . check with task manager by presing Ctrl+Alt+del at same time to make sure it is closed.
4. now open the file AppTapp which was exracted.
5. let the program run by itself..it will pause at different intervals but dont panic...you will also see a yellow triange in your iphone screen Saying TO START iTUNE ...dont do anything...just let the program to finish what it was doing....
6. your iphone will then reboot by itself...then slide unlock on your iphone...walla Installer Icon is back!!!
7. this time make sure you open installer again and install rsbt or dock me i used Dock...now you can access all Icons 16+++ which can't be seen on your iphone's front screen

sup, you can only scroll up and down on the front page if you install the mod. move left and right until you install the scroller, if you ever do.

Those of you with to many apps for your screen to show them all, you need to install summerboard. It allows you to have a scrollable application screen. I think you may have to install customize too, but I'm not really sure about that one. Basically you installed all the programs except the one you really need.

How do I uninstall the installer?

My Installer disappeared after a flurry of app installations. I think this problem is so basic that a lot of the people on forums and developers are offering help which is way past over the heads of the newbie Iphone non-tech types like me. Try this work around using Nate True’s iBrickr version: 0.91. It works on Windows or Mac. First install Ibrickr on your PC or Mac. Follow the instructions in the site http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr, download the Zip file, extract it to your desktop, and run ibrickr.exe. When it says Welcome to iBrickr! You are ‘Ready to rock! Pick your poison: ‘etc. Click Applications. On the Applications Manager click Browse Applications then scroll to Dock v2.06.and install Dock application to your IPhone. Allow up to 30 seconds for the install to finish - your phone will soft-restart when it's complete. This adds a little sunburst icon to the lower corner of the screen. From here you can now view your Installer and whatever else 3rd party apps you have added. I am not sure if the unhacked versions have a way of avoiding this problem but maybe I reading the wrong help sites. If you have a hacked phone then skip the part where Nate tells you how to jailbreak the phone and restore settings through Itunes. Watch the video and I hope this helps.

MISSING ICONS SOLUTION---you need to install "spring board" from the installer. that would give you the ability to scroll the screen to the left, Then you will see the rest of the missing icons

OK i have a solution that worked for me....
I am not sure how it happened, either from the installer or my own mistake but when i SSH'd into my iPhone i discovered that i had my entire Application Directory replicated within the Application directory. Very strange..
..
Before i discovered this i could not successfully copy the Installer.app folder into the Application directory. After removing the duplicate directory i had no problems at all and next reboot all was well...

It is possible that if the folder Installer.app is replicated anywhere else within the Applications folder this may cause issues.
..
I have 1.1.1 using WinXP via wifi and used the http://hackthatphone.com/downloads/Installer.zip for a fresh copy of Installer_3.09b.
My settings for copying with winscp406.exe were to copy with settings on binary and permissions set to 0755.

I have 2 iphones, one gets this weird msg "file size mismatch" and the other one, i've Installer 3.0b10 should be updated, but I get an error says "package download failed" even if my wireless is great...

What i also found that helped was to ssh in
and start deleting a couple of the Applications
folders that i did not need... Try this first to
make some more space in the system area.

Then hunt down an app called BossTool
from ModMyiFone.com
This will give you the option to move things
like Fonts and Ringtones and that automaticly
gave me back around 80MB on the original
300Mb OS partition.

There is even an option to move all Applications
to the 7440MB partition

Installer is having a problem with STE Packaging Site. If you check out the STE Packaging site, he said he is having more problems with his host because they are not supporting their part of the bargain. So that has nothing to do with your phone, but rather the hosting, but yes, upgrade to Installer 3.0 ASAP.

hi i had updated installer 3.0 on my jailbreak 1.1.2 iphone. i have also deteled the STE URL as per advised and add a new url :"http:/.repo.smxy.org/iphone-apps/" but till today when i try to refresh it, it shows:"refresh failed could not refresh sources!" and when i try to download a app, it shows:"error, package download failed cant find host".

i connect to the wifi network at office to use the internet and also install games and some applications.
but for the past 2 days i get connected to the wifi network and browse the internet but im not able to install any applications fron the installer. everytime i do that i get an error "package download failed". can someone pls help me out in this, i really have no clue as to what im supposed to do.

Hi Candy. I had a similar problem. All I did was switch off my iphone completely and then restarted it. It then found host!

I tried the "turn off phone" thing and I still get the "can't find host". I saw somewhere that changing the url data in the package solves the problem. Anyone heard of it?

i have Iphone with 1.1.2 jaibreak working with my fido,
it work find but when i try to install any application like ISIM(compy contact from sim to Iphone) it give me message "package downlaod failed" i try to turn off and turn on the iphone didn't work. i try to refresh the install program still no luck.

Hey guys Even i had the same problem with my new iphone but now I HAVE THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR IT...
the reason we are not able to install applications because the disk space on the phone is full. Actually the iphone is divided into two disk spaces , one is only 300 mb and another about 7 GB. so if we are not able to install anything it means that our 300 mb is full. In order to fix it we need to first uninstall more than 2 mb of application and then finally goto install section and install an application called BOSSTOOL and using this app we have to relocate our applications from smaller disk to larger one. I can guarantee you guys that this would work out for you as well. let me know if you still have any problem

Make some space first.... on the iphone system partition.

One way is to do this via SSH.

Then installer.app should run.
Then uninstall a few apps.
Then install BossTool.
Then RUN BossTool.
Then move Fonts and Ringtones.

There should be Lots of room now
and all should work in installer.app.

Let others know if this worked for you.

ok I have uninstalled a few applications ,,, accordint to the above mentioned, my Installer should now work and not give errors to install new soft ware...

I've been installing a lot of applications on my iPhone. Now installer has disappeared from the main screen.. WAIT There's more.. Now EVERY time I try to access an application whether its third party or not. The touch screen on my iPhone is frozen. I can't click on any buttons or anything. The only thing I can do is click the "Home" button and it takes me back home. I can scroll around on the home screen just fine, but when I access ANY application, the screen is just frozen solid. I can't make phone calls, I cant access youtube, I can't do anything. I know there are some geniuses out there that can figure this issue out. Please help.. Thank you
