anySIM: free iPhone software unlocker

As promised, over the weekend the #iphone-dev team released the final version of their free iPhone software unlocker. anySIM, currently at v1.01, fixes compatibility issues that occured with previous releases.

Essentially anySIM is the most simple solution out there for unlocking your iPhone. You don’t need to open up your iPhone or solder anything in it like with the “geohot” iPhone hardware unlock method, nor do or add anything to your SIM card like in the TurboSim and SuperSim unlock methods.

And since the program is completely automated — you just upload it to your jailbreaked iPhone and run it — anySIM is so simple that anyone can use it.

And since anySIM is completely free for everyone to download and use, iPhone World suggests everyone that plans to use anySIM to unlock their iPhones to stop by #iphone-dev’s wiki page or forums and donate a few bucks to the great people behind this great iPhone unlock hack.

anySIM for iPhone FAQ:
Q: Couldn’t locate byte…
A: Your firmware is already patched or modified or at leas tnot apple default of the fls, try a restore with bbupdater

Q: My IMEI is now 0049
A: Whatever you did, you installed a retail FW over a already hacked one, thats bad, run a unlocker again.

Q: I get a unlock cmds failed error!
A: Try reboot the phone and check

Q: My sim isn’t recognized!
A: Than go and activate proper

Q: I have sound issues
A: Your Provider sucks

Q: Can I brick my phone?
A: No any mistake you do is restore able with more or less work.

Q: My phone is frozen!
A: Usally not, it just takes a bit and the home button is disabled.

Q:Why patch the lockdownd?
A: It’s not needed, do a proper activation instead!

got the same thing going on... I'm running a Jailbreak 1.1.3 with baseband 4.03.13_G

when I run anySim 1.3, I keep getting the "please Restart your iPhone" message even though I have auto-lock on "never" and the airplane mide is on.

Anyone?!?

I also got the same problem. I have an iPhone version 1.1.1, first time it's ok (unlocked). After 2 days, i don't know why, i can't make a phone call, but I can receive calls, send & receive sms, and all other features is ok, except to make a phone call. When i tried to unlocked it using AnySIM, i got the message as "please restart your iphone anySIM cannot unlock this phone. anySIM will now quit. please turn off your phone and turn it on again after anySIM quits”. Pls help me with this matter. Any solution, please?Thank you.

hi. i baught an iphone the other day with firmware 1.1.2 on it and i downgraded it to 1.1.1 and jailbroke it. then when i was going to unlock it with anySIM it keeps on saying each time "please restart your iphone anySIM cannot unlock this phone. anySIM will now quit. please turn off your phone and turn it on again after anySIM quits"

I recieved an unlocked iphone as a gift recently - works perfectly, for wi fi internet, youtube, sms, calls etc. However, I would like to connect it to my mac and sync some music, video, photos etc. My mac is running itunes 7.5, and the iphone has icons on screen for AnySim and Installer.

I would like to know what will happen when I connect my iphone via usb.

1. Will itunes try to upgrade it to latest firmware? relock it or brick the phone?.
2. Is it possible to sync itunes 7.5 content to an unlocked iphone? or do i need to downgrade itunes to an earlier version first?

I am terrified to do this without prior knowledge, as the phone is a US AT&T model and I have no way to reactivate as I live in Indonesia if something goes wrong.

Any help would be gratefully appeciated.

I bought my phone from a friend and he had att so all he did was jailbreak it but when i went to install anySIM, i followed all directions, it wouldn't say that i was successful.I do not have an ATT sim card to use, is it necessary to unlock the iphone so it reads the carrier to unlock from.I have been attempting to unlock the phone with a T-mobile sim card from the beginning.v1.0.2

what do you mean when you say go activate proper?
i have unlocked the iphone and all works fine but when i put my tmobile sim in the phone is says new sim card and i wants me to activate on itunes.
are you saying i need to go to tmobile and activate with a new tmo sim?

Hi, I unlocked my 1.1.1 and it worked justo fine for abou a week, but now some times when I get a call it wont ring, but thats not the big problem, the big problem it that I can't make calls, I receive calls, send sms, use safari, ipod, its all normal the only issue is that I cant make calls...
Can I run Anysmi agan on iphone? Can I use iTunes to restore and unlock again?

Hi there

I'm happily using my unlocked iphone with a Hong Kong sim card. However when i travel i have local sim cards that i like to swap into the phone for better call rates. However the phone indicates i cannot do so.

do you know if anysim accommodates an unlocked and activated state for the iphone that allows free swapping of different sim cards without requiring an activation each time?

Could you please help me with the following query
I believe the current apple phones shipped till September end currently have 1.0.2 firmware installed

All the steps which i have read about unlocking iphone mark restoring the phone thru Itunes as the first step.Could you confim that doing so will not upgrade the phone to latest 1.1.1 version.

I am hoping that my box packed iphone(expected in a few days) would be having 1.0.2 version which i can unlock using anySim.

iam trying to unlock the iphone 8G i uesd 7.3 itune edited using the ultra edit then used the ibreaker and loaded the anysim software, every this is good but it freezes at the "patching the firmware"
any advice. or clues

Hi, to answer your questions to my best understading of the answers:

1. Do you need to upgrade to 1.02 firmware before starting the process [ The info which i have is that u can do restore using Itunes ]
- answer: It seems that anySIM with compatible with any version from 1.0 to 1.02.
2. Is anysim now compatible with Itunes 7.4.1 As the earlier versions requirement was Itunes 7.4 or earlier
- answer: it seems it's compatible with both v7.4 and v7.4.1.
3. Do you need a separate process for activating the phone
or does anySim take care of the same.
- answer: well, if you're using iBrickr, you're gonna activate the phone from there (that's one step before jailbreak) :)
