Rumor: “Leaked” Rogers iPhone ad - iPhone coming on December 7 2007 in Canada?

A supposedly leaked Apple iPhone Rogers ad (below), states that the device will be arriving in Canada on December 7, 2007.

According to it the iPhone will be sold for $499 CAD (USD $520 — much above American price) with a 3 year contract with Rogers (which does not offer flatrate data plans), with preorders supposedly starting on November 20th.

At the same time, Rogers Wireless spokeswoman Odette Coleman stated that Rogers is now officially allowing use of the iPhone with its SIM cards — previously Rogers discouraged use of iPhones in Canada — although she did state that Rogers does not guarantee its operation (for example, iPhone’s Visual Voicemail will not work with rogers in Canada — at the moment– due to network differences).

The logo in the top right gave it away. Anytime the circular Rogers symbol is published, it MUST have the Rogers name/text beside it due to copyrights.

Of course the ad was a fake, an amateur put it together, you can tell by the text layout as well (everything tight to the edges...very amateur).

Anyways, if the pricing isn't the same as the US since our dollar is the same, I say screw it. Tell rogers to shove it up their collective a@$. Same with an unlimited data plan.

Haaa xmas has passed and still no iPhones... Don't know what happening with Rogers but looks like they're not in a hurry to push the iphone out :-(.

Though I read somewhere that the name iPhone is already registrered in Canada and Apple has a hard time getting an arrangement.

Oh well, time to buy unlocked I guess :-).

While I'm extremely keen on getting an iphone, I'm continuely disappointed by the rumors and anticipated pricing. You would think Rogers would get realistic and offer services and pricing similar to those in the U.S. They want to be the provider and yet they want to gouge us as much as possible! Just being a provider to such a revolutionary technology is a goldmine unto itself! Let us not forget how close to Christmas we are and no deal yet! Sure seems like big company greed at work here. Like so many others I'm interested but getting less optimistic by the day.

I've done enough adds for Rogers to know this thing is a fake.

The copy alone is enough of a clue to realize that this is a weak attempt at a prank.

This is a FAKE!
I'll tell you now, if for no other reason the branding of this add is nowhere near the Rogers brand standards.

The logo in the bottom corner looks like it was pulled off the website.
