Dev Team official iPhone “soft” v1.1.3 jailbreak

January 27, 2008 by dennis

The iPhone Dev Team has released the official version of iPhone v1.1.3 jailbreak. As mentioned before, as compared to Nate True’s “unofficial” jailbreak version, the “official version” by Dev Team supposedly should not create any problems when running authorized third party programs in the future.

Another difference between the official and unofficial release, is that the official one will need a v1.1.2 jailbreaked firmware in order to be installed, unlike the unofficial, which required firmware v1.1.1.

And according to some reports, devices that were previously unlocked will remain unlocked after applying the new jailbreak hack… We are currently trying to confirm this information independently.

Direct download:
- iPhone Dev Team official iPhone v1.1.3 jailbreak (324KB)

Installation instructions below:

OVERVIEW

This “soft” update upgrades a 1.1.2 iPhone/iTouch to 1.1.3. You will require a v1.1.2 Jailbroke device with the BSD Subsystem v1.5 or greater installed.

This installer does NOT upgrade your baseband. It only creates a log directory for it, which is needed in 1.1.3. Don’t freak out when you see it doing so.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Because this is a soft update, the kernel cache is not upgraded. You will need to ensure you are on v1.1.2, otherwise this will cause certain DRM functionality, such as Nikita (Apple’s new software installer for the SDK) to malfunction.

UPGRADE MUST BE PERFORMED FROM 112 TO WORK PROPERLY

IMPORTANT WARNINGS:

1. Set Auto-Lock to “Never” in your settings to prevent the Phone from locking and shutting down your connection.

2. This installer downloads a significant amount of data from Apple’s website. Be sure you have WiFi turned on so that you don’t use your mobile connection – or you’ll be sitting there a while!

3. Be sure to perform this upgrade with the charge cable connected

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy this entire distribution to / on your iPhone/iTouch. So you will have /update-prebinding-path.txt and so on

# scp -r ./* root@iphone:/

2. Run the install.sh script:

# sh install.sh

3. The device will perform an upgrade and reboot into 1.1.3

If something DOES go wrong, restore back to 1.1.2 / Jailbroken and try again.

If you get something like illegal hardware instruction, just try rebooting and it should be updated to 1.1.3.

If you don’t get service, try a forced-power-down then power back on.

If you have problems syncing contacts / calendar / bookmarks, upload the syncfix.sh script to your iPhone then run it.

That’s it!

I wonder how long we can keep this up for in regards to reselling these. Apple has some pretty heady individuals, although i am taking full advantage while time lasts…..will it last is the question?
