iPhone Scams: Woman out $3000 in Canadian Online iPhone Scam

An Edmonton woman is now out $3000 after paying for iPhones to an unauthorized reseller and never receiving her goods.
Sandra Schnitzler says that she has been scammed out of $3000 by iphonenow.ca, an unofficial online iPhone reseller that supplies iPhones to Canada, as Canada does not have official iPhone support or service from Apple as of yet.

Similar experiences have been reported. Several weeks ago we’ve received an e-mail from a concerned reader regarding a Canadian online iPhone sales operation — which happened to be iphonenow.ca — that the reader claimed to be fraudulent. While we’ve made our own investigation, due to limited resources we did not end up with much useful information, so we could not proceed with a story at the time.
However, some print newspapers that obviously have more resources than we do have made their own investigations, and confirmed that the operation in question is operated by a conman, who was convicted of previous internet fraud scams before.
One particularly distraught individual created a blog against the fraudulent reseller, at http://iphonenowscam.blogspot.com/. The page is slowly evolving into a community, complete with steps one should take if one is a victim of such a scam.
We here at iPhone World serve the public with the latest iPhone news and information, and as such, we fully back what we are viewing. It is for this exact reason that we do not endorse resellers such as iPhone Now.
All we can say is, beware of what and off whom you buy online. In this particular case iPhoneNow.ca claimed to have started reimbursing those that did not receive the iPhones they’ve ordered, but not everyone has received the reimbursement as of yet. And iPhoneNow.ca is still operating online, preying on new victims…
