Wozniak critiques iPhone

March 5, 2008 by David

Even though Wozniak(Apple co-founder) said that he likes iPhone, now however he thinks of it differently.

“To tell you the truth, I was really disappointed when the iPhone was introduced,” said Wozniak.
I had 3G phones and non-3G phones and I knew the difference, so I was shocked because Apple was bringing full internet with full web pages, and I was surprised that it would not be 3G, and I knew that that would be a speed detriment.”

Reportedly he was annoyed with the whole issue that battery life decreases if phone is 3G. “I don’t understand why it would be a battery issue: “I get as much life on my 3G phones as I get on my non-3G phones,” he said.

i read iWoz book and to be honest there is no much Wozniak have invented at Apple since Apple II, so all we have and see is really a work of art of other engineers. Therefore, i don’t believe that putting 3G in would be as easy but of course possible now look at W910 from Sony Ericsson, besides it does it battery no doubt about that. So, the only thing iPhone is really missing is functionality, from hardware perspective I think it is good enough.

Roman – Except for the fact that Woz _has_ been involved with cell phone development since leaving Apple. He may not have worked on the iPhone or other new Apple hardware, but he _did_ work on the Danger Hiptop, which you may know these days by the name ‘Sidekick’. A very well selling and advanced phone.
