Apple stores face massive iPhone shortage
April 1, 2008 by David
It seems that Apple is faced with a serious problem, which they never anticipated. Apple stores are out of iPhones in many places. AppleInsider claims that they contacted numerous stores, and all of them were out of both 8 and 16Gb iPhones models.
Chicago, New York City, Miami and San Francisco flagship stores were all out of iPhones. AppleInsider also reports that numerous readers have confirmed that many more Apple stores are short on iPhones.

Interestingly, Apple online store still lists 5-7 days for iPhone shipping.
Previously T-Mobile stores in Germany were out of 16 GB iPhones, and as recently as last week few New York stores reported the complete lack of iPhones as well.
Apple has not made any comments about the issue. However, it is interesting to note that shortages came after analysts’ prediction of high iPhone sale numbers, and new models. Maybe this is the reason Apple doesn’t release iPhone worldwide? Possibly it just cannot produce them as fast.
