iPhone Canada: another delay

After catching up on a recent CBC news story we’ve realized that we might have made some “forward looking statements” (in PR/lawyers lingo), when it came to conclusions regarding the recent Canadian iPhone trademark update.
According to our original story, a change was made to Canadian iPhone trademark registration on March 25 2008, which seemed to have indicated to us that there will be a resolution in the case in June 2008, according to a field we’ve found in the trademark registration report.

However, according to the CBC who’ve contacted, Genevieve Cote-Halverson, a spokesperson for CIPO, the dates in question are theoretical ones, while “either party could ask for an extension and push the process another four months.”
In reality Mrs. Cote-Halverson says that this process could last for up to two years, so it doesn’t appear like there could be any fast resolution for this matter for iPhone fans from Canada through the judicial system.
At the same time, we urge our Canadian readers to sign The Great Canadian Petition, instead of buying hacked units or god forbid purchasing $1 Canadian iPhones.
