Maps Offline: Accessing your saved maps offline with iPhone

Ever found yourself in a situation when you needed to check maps, but there just weren’t any hotspots available? Maps Offline should solve your problem! Basically it allows storing your map cache, so you can check whenever there is no Wi-Fi nearby.
To use Maps Offline you will need map cache saved.

Here is how you do it:
Getting cache from Maps:
MapTiles.sqlitedb is the primary Cache of Maps.app. With “Save Your MapTiles.sqlitedb” you can save it using the same filename. Below there is the List with all your saved Caches. This is also the Directory to save the Files with Map This.
/private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/MapTiles/
Just tap on the Row and you have restored your saved Maps.
Saving and restoring big Files could take a while. 200 MB up takes around half a minute.
If you want to delete maps, just use the slider to tap to Delete.
You can even have your routes cached:
It’s the Same Method as for regular cash, except you use another directory. You also can’t delete Route.plist, so at the beginning you won’t see any saved Routes
Of course if this is too hard you can use MapThis utility. Here is a QuickTime video tutorial of it in action.
To Summarize:
Search your Location, choose Satellite or Map
Click Download Map
Uncheck any files you don’t want to download
Download, convert into iPhone sqlitedb format
Transfer it
You can get “Map This” utility here.
And finally to download Maps Offline, click here.
Simple, wasnt it?
