O2 sold out of 8GB iPhones. Preparing for 3G iPhone?

May 8, 2008 by David

It appears that UK is out of iPhones! O2 store page for iPhone greets you with the following message: “8GB iPhone no longer available.

Definitely the price drop helped to clear the stocks from 8GB iPhones. They still keep 16 GB iPhones, probably knowing that they will sell eventually for a full price.

Still what is the meaning of 8GB iPhone disappearance? People speculate that O2 has decided to clear stocks for upcoming 3G iPhone. Since 8GB model will be the lowest model, it might be that O2 is doing to it what Apple did with 4GB iPhone. After all, who will want the lowest model with all this competition around?
