Even CSI’s use the iPhone! At least on TV…

So we all know that the iPhone is a nifty tool. But how nifty exactly?
Well, apparently it’s good enough to be used by crime scene investigators, at least on TV.
Episode 12 of season 8 of the incredibly addictive TV show CSI: Las Vegas (named Grissom’s Divine Comedy) features one of the CSI’s, Catherine Willows, using the iPhone to take photos of the crime scene and sending them back to the head investigator, Gil Grissom, who’s down with the flu and cannot tend to it in person.

It seems that the convenience of taking a photo and e-mailing it on the spot trumps the fact that the iPhone only has a 2MP camera.

Of course, the real question is whether the device is actually authorized for police and crime scene processing work… What do you think?
