Earthscape: Google Earth alternative for iPhone

May 26, 2008 by David

Earthscape is a new virtual globe application that puts you on the map. With social layers, incredible imagery and custom applications, Earthscape offers the world’s richest geographic browsing experience.

The app is actually Google Earth like application for the iPhone, and will be launched once the App Store goes live. You can do mostly everything with this app what you could do with Google Earth: zoom, pan, rotate, and generally enjoy watching our beautiful planet. One thing to mention though, is that it is not a Google Earth port.

Here is a video of it in action:

You can try signing up for beta testing if you are interested in this program.

    David:

Thanks for the mention. I should probably note that Earthscape is not a port of Google Earth, but a full-featured geobrowser we’ve been writing from the ground up for several years now. The fact that we are both virtual globe applications is about where the similarity stops — we’ve innovated in a lot of areas we think people will find interesting — mobile being just one of them.

    Best Wishes,
