Apple could sell 18 million iPhones this year: analyst

Although Apple only had plans (at least ones that it announced) to sell 10 million iPhones this year, an analyst believes that almost twice as many will be sold due to the upcoming 3G iPhone launch expected on July 11 2008.
“The higher expectation on the 3G iPhone reflects attractive prices and a broader distribution channel (availability at ~70 countries). The newly added white color for the 3G iPhone also bodes well to consumers,” stated Jenny Lai, an analyst at CLSA Emerging Markets, in a report that was distributed to clients.
