Is Rogers offering an Olive Branch, or Pacifier to Canadians with 6GB Promotional Data Plan?
July 9, 2008 by Chantelle
In an extraordinary move, days before launch, Rogers announced today that they will be offering new and existing customers a limited promotional Data Package of 6GB @ $30/month, provided you activate the package before August 31, 2008. Certainly some will consider this a success, or at the very least a step in the right direction for the tens of thousands of Canadians unhappy with the original Rogers iPhone 3G Rates. Although this does address the largest concern of most people, affordable data, the iPhone packages remain unchanged on the issue of Voice and Text limits, and it’s not the Unlimited Data most were hoping for.
Is this the result of Apple possibly cutting stock to Rogers? And if so, does that mean we’ll get our stock back? What about GetTheFactsOnRogersiPhone.com’s Call to Action? Will this appease the majority, or simply be considered a move to placate the ongoing unrest and negative media attention Rogers has received thus far? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
This information was tucked away in the middle of a press release boasting the early open time of 8am certain stores (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Vancouver, and Calgary), and the free breakfasts and festivities one can expect at the Launch Event on Friday, July 11.
