Global iPhone 3G activation problems

Reuters reports that the problems plaguing iPhone buyers in Canada are not exclusive to Canada.
Apparently Apple iTunes’ activation software was unable to cope with multiple iPhone activation requests coming from all around the world, therefore impeding Apple’s partner carriers in different countries from selling the devices.
There’s no timeframe on when this problem will be solved — “That’s a good question for Apple,” said AT&T spokesman Michael Coe.

Meantime some stores started taking names and phone numbers of potential customers in order to give them a call once the issue has been resolved.
