Hack: remove iPhone Safari browser ads
September 23, 2008 by James
Did you know that you can easily remove a lot of those pesky ads that plague your online experience while using your iPhone’s Mobile Safari internet browser?
We didn’t, that’s why we bring you a very short guide and a small download that will do just that for you. This will filter out, or rather block, most known ads servers’ IP’s in your iPhone’s hosts file. You might want to make a copy of your original hosts file just in case.

Removing iPhone Safari Browser ads:
- 1 Click on the link below to download a new hosts file for your iPhone or iPod Touch device
- 2 Make sure you’ve got OpenSSH installed on your jailbreaked iPhone or Pod Touch. Connect to your device with a program like like WinSCP
- 3 Browse over to /etc/
- 4 Replace your existing hosts file with the new one
- 5 Restart your device
