Apple to pass 200 million AppStore downloads today

According to Steve Jobs who spoke to analysts yesterday, Apple is due to serve its 200 millionth iPhone AppStore download today.
Over 5,500 iPhone apps are currently available in AppStore, the majority of them being paid ones, but there’s obviously quite a few free ones as well (check out Mobclix for detailed apps breakdown).
Apple has clearly managed to get itself in a very good position as opposed to other mobile phones manufacturers who do not currently have a viable alternative to the iPhone AppStore.

It is interesting to note that some analysts were originally skeptical about the AppStore prior to its launch… which wouldn’t be the first time analysts were wrong in their predictions.
