Creator of ZiPhone iPhone unlocker applies for job at Apple, finds a new exploit

Zibri, creator of ZiPhone unlock software for the iPhone whom we got to interview a while ago, has applied for a job at Apple as an iPhone security engineer… but Apple never really got back to him.
He did so after finding a new exploit that affects the iPhone (we already reported on that, although without details as they were not available). He informed Apple about it back in July 2008, but Apple never replied and as of yet the exploit remains unpatched.
Apparently, this exploit affects the audio portion of Apple’s video format, to be specific, a shared code library that Apple uses in most of its operating systems. Someone with a knowledge of this exploit can produce video files that would cause the iPhone to crash if attempting to view them. And while no permanent damage will be caused, it could still be rather annoying.

Forbes magazine has tested this exploit and found that it’s indeed affecting the iPhone 3G. Furthermore, Zibri states that this exploit also affects iPods and even Apple’s desktop computers.
