USA iPhone sales down 24 percent?
January 21, 2009 by James
In some rather disappointing news for Apple, financial firm Morgan Stanley reports that iPhone 3G sales in the USA have fallen down by as much as 24% in the last quarter.
Morgan Stanley estimates that as compared to Q3 2008 when Apple has sold 2.3 million iPhone 3G units, in Q4 2009 Apple has managed to sell only 1.75 million iPhones.
The list of reasons for this could be potentially rather long, from the overall economic situation and the resulting jobs loss that clearly has a negative influence on customers’ spending habits, to the recent launches of similar phone models from BlackBerry, LG and T-Mobile (HTC), to finally, potential oversaturation of the high end phones market.

It needs to be noted, however, that these numbers are just estimates, and we should wait for official information later on today — it will probably be reported in Apple’s quarterly earnings call.
