Apple faces an iPhone screen-rendering lawsuit

As if there were not enough iPhone lawsuits, Apple was served with a new lawsuit, initiated by Picsel Technologies, a Scottish hitech company.
According to the lawsuit, filed in the USA District of Delaware, Picsel Technologies states that it believes that Apple used patented technology belonging to Picsel Technologies for iPhone’s screen-rendering.
Apparently, this patent involves the way the iPhone renders and zooms into documents, websites, and images. The company claims that without the use of their technology Apple would not be able to reach the same level of fluidity on their device.
The company is not a no-name one; in fact it has KDDI, Motorola, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Palm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Sharp as its clients.

As the final result, the company wants to receive a compensation for all the iPhones that were already sold and were supposedly using Picsel’s patent.
Apple did not officially reply to these claims yet.
P.S. It is rather curious that the Apple iPhone was released in mid-2007, while this lawsuit was only filed in February 2009.
