Google’s GMail is certainly one of the most popular free online e-mail service providers among iPhone owners. And it might become even more popular.

At the Mobile World Congress 2009 expo, Google presented a new app for the iPhone, that will allow you to access your e-mail even when you’re offline. Well, obviously you will only be able to access the e-mails that you’ve received before going offline, but you will also be able to add labels to them.

Additionally, Google is planning to introduce a voice-search app for the iPhone, so when you’ll say “images of Canada in the winter” into your iPhone, a Google image search browser window would open, showing you the results.

It’s unclear when these new apps will be launched. A video demo is available on YouTube courtesy of iPhoneBuzz.

How is this different than the current Google iPhone app that does voice-based search?
  • It will be "smarter" --> catching exactly what kind of search type you want (images / videos / maps / etc)....

so additionally, it should be able to work with your GMail too!

Ah. So, perhaps rather than "planning to introduce a," you might have said "planning to update/improve their existing."

    Thanks :)
