TomTom turn-by-turn iPhone GPS navigation system: video demo
June 10, 2009 by James
GPS navigation devices manufacturer TomTom has teamed with Apple to bring a new turn-by-turn navigation app for owners of GPS-enabled iPhones (iPhone 3G and 3GS models). This was announced at the WWDC.
The TomTom app seems to fully mimic the software that comes with actual TomTom GPS devices and the same maps, which means that now owners of GPS-enabled iPhones will be able to ditch their current GPS navigation devices without any loss in functions/performance.

Just keep in mind that you’ll need to also buy a TomTom car kit that offers “secure docking, enhanced GPS performance, clear voice instructions and hands-free calling, while charging your iPhone at the same time.”
This product will be available sometime in the summer. Exact launch date and pricing were not announced as of yet, but you can sign up for e-mail updates on TomTom’s website. A short product demo is available on YouTube.
