iPhone 3GS in USA: “in every UPS truck”
June 19, 2009 by dennis
Some news from USA now: since Apple and AT&T allowed preorders of the iPhone 3GS online, it seems that many folks decided to take advantage of this instead of waiting in lines at stores.
According to an UPS truck driver that visited a colleague of ours, “It’s crazy with iPhones… every truck has them.”
However, not everything is rosy for those that preordered the 3GS iPhones in advance hoping to avoid a delay in getting them…

While UPS seems to be coping well with the load, Apple’s activation servers are not (an update on this was posted here). As such customers attempting to activate their new 3GS iPhones at home are greeted with a nice message from iTunes, pasted below:
“Your activation requires additional time to complete.
Please note: Due to current iPhone activation volumes it might take up to 48 hours to resolve your issue. We will send a confirmation to [you] once your activation is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. You can set up your iPhone and explore features that do not require access to the AT&T network. To get started, please disconnect and then reconnect your iPhone“
