AVG Bringing Anti-Virus to iPhone & Mac
July 26, 2009 by Matt
An interview with JR Smith (CEO of AVG) revealed his desire to have a full-blown antimalware solution for the iPhone, along with plans for a desktop edition of AVG to hit OS X. “I’d love to see it towards the end of next year,” Smith said of an AVG product for iPhone OS. “Really, it’s less about AV and more about real-time protection.
There are some major complications regarding the iPhone however, Apple don’t allow applications to be running in the background therefore a protection function that works in real-time would be difficult.

“We can’t add a layer of protection on to the iPhone today, so that’s a lot of the conversation that we’re having with Apple.” Smith explained.
With smartphones becoming ever more popular in the society today, it won’t be long before people are trying to exploit it for not so good ways, it’s a matter of time and I’m glad AVG see the gap in the market and have plans to fill such gap to protect our beloved devices!
