Apple tries to halt the selling of fake iPhones

Apple has recently informed the Australian Customs with the details of its trademarks in an effort to halt the importation of fake iPhones into Australia. Counterfeit sellers are able to buy the fake iPhones from suppliers in china for $18.50 a unit then sell them on in the Australian market for $400.

Apple was told by unknown source who had done an illegal investigation on the selling of counterfeit iPhones in various locations around Australia such as pubs and hostels. The unknown source said they had chance to compare a fake iPhone to the real one. They said it was hard to distinguish both them apart but on closer inspection said the effectiveness of the touch screen was laking greatly on the fake iPhone.
One seller questioned stated the reason fake were so popular was because customers want something cheap that looks similar to the iPhone “so they can say that they have an iPhone,…”. Because the fake iPhones are so popular a new miniature fake iPhone has been produced even though Apple doesn’t sell a miniature iPhone.
