‘Redeem’ option missing from iTunes iPhone app in OS v3.0.1

Apple recently released OS v3.0.1 to fix the SMS exploit that could potentially affect every iPhone in the world. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only change in v3.0.1. Some of you may have noticed that something is missing from the iTunes app – redeem.

For some unknown reason, you can no longer redeem iTunes gift cards or app promo codes directly from your iPhone. Has anyone else seen this issue? Or is it just me? Let us know in the comments.

Update: the Redeem option is still there, it was apparently moved to a new location. You can find it in Music>New Releases (at the bottom of the screen). Thanks to all the readers that pointed it out.

    I thought this was odd at first also. I found it though!! If you go to the music category and then scroll to the bottom of the list you will find it there. I find this very odd, but its apple, we've seen stranger decisions. ie: waiting 2.5 years for the ancient technology of picture messaging.

    I have noticed that, but you can find redeem on the app store “featured” list all the way down on the bottom.

    I cannot see the redeem feature in my iphone itunes app running 3.0.1, why are you doing this to me apple :(

    I have os 3.0 and my redeem button is gone as well.

    hello, yes, the Redeem option is still there, it's just been moved. select Music>New Releases and then scroll to the bottom of the list…there you'll see the Redeem option.

    wow.. that is seriously a cryptic spot to put it.. i mean in the “downloads” screen made “some” sense.. but at the bottom on New Releases? wth are they smoking in cupertino?
