Encryption of iPhone 3GS easy to bypass

Jonathan Zdziarski, a security researcher, discovered a relatively easy way to bypass the iPhone 3GS passcode lock and encryption completely. The fault is not with the actual encryption but in the way Apple implemented the encryption.

Jonathan found that if you bypass the passcode you can gain access to the data in the iPhone and is seems that if you jailbreak the iPhone 3GS you can get access to the place where the passcode is stored and turn it off giving you full access to the iPhone.
Apple has been made aware of this problem and they will probably release a patch soon. But for now make sure you remote wipe your iPhone if it has data on it that you wish to keep private. Note: Jonathan Zdziarski also made various other discoveries one of which is that the iPhone spies on you
