Find deleted emails with iPhone OS 3.0 bug

August 18, 2009 by Devon

Matt Janssen, a fellow iPhone user has discovered a bug that allowed him to find emails three or four months old. As long as you know the subject line you can search Spotlight for the deleted emails and it seems to be occurring because Spotlight is not clearing its cache inline with the mail client.

The bug has been reported to have been fixed in OS version 3.1 and although Spotlights cache will clear, no one is exactly sure when it does. A video showing this bug can be seen here.
