The smartphone market in china is expected to receive a boost when the iPhone arrives on its shores. Tina Ting, an analyst that works for iSuppli believes that China Unicom, the wireless service provider for china iPhones will “sound the starting gun for China’s smartphone market,”.

Ting says this is because “The arrival of the iPhone has compelled China Unicom’s competitor China Mobile to introduce its own smart phone products and app store, helping to boost the market,”. iSuppli is also predicting that sales of smartphone units will increase by 42.5% next year.
The iPhone is set to go on sale in the forth quarter this year and even though it will lack wireless capability everyone is expecting it to be a big seller.
